Metro Cabaret Lab Talks
Metro Cabaret Lab is a collective—a space where artists come together to learn, collaborate, and grow as a community. We’re not just about performance; we’re about building a network that thrives on creativity, support, and shared knowledge. Whether you’re stepping onto the stage for the first time or you're a seasoned performer, this is a place where we all rise together.
Here, we set our own standards, share resources, and uplift one another. It’s about cross-collaboration, growth, and fostering inclusivity in everything we do. We’re building something that goes beyond individual success—we’re creating a community that shapes the future of burlesque in the DMV and beyond.
MISSION & VISION
At Metro Cabaret Lab, we empower and uplift performers in the DMV area by providing accessible training, industry resources, and collaborative opportunities. We strive to foster a vibrant and inclusive community where burlesque artists of all backgrounds can grow their craft, build their business acumen, and confidently navigate the evolving entertainment industry. Through free and paid programming, our mission is to ensure every performer has the tools, knowledge, and network to succeed while upholding the values of professionalism, creativity, and mutual support.
Our vision is to become the leading artist development hub for burlesque performers in the DMV area, serving as a space for creative exploration, business growth, and cross-industry collaboration. We envision a future where Metro Cabaret Lab is a trusted resource for performers seeking sustainable careers, where industry standards are shaped by the collective knowledge of our community, and where every performer has the opportunity to thrive—whether on stage, behind the scenes, or in business.
Town Hall Series — 4.7.24
The first DMV Burlesque Town Hall was an open community conversation where performers, producers, and industry professionals came together to discuss the needs of the local scene. The discussion highlighted a strong desire for more collaboration, shared opportunities, and financial education to help performers navigate bookings, sponsorships, and sustainable careers. Attendees emphasized the need for clearer industry standards, including fair pay, professional etiquette, and accessible resources for funding and business growth. The event served as a vital first step in building a more connected, informed, and financially empowered burlesque community in the DMV.
